Fic: Gravity (White Collar, 2/?)

  • Dec. 9th, 2009 at 12:18 AM
Title: Gravity
Pairings: Gen for now, Neal/Kate, Peter/Elizabeth canonically, possibly starting on pre-slash for Peter/Neal and pre-OT3 for Neal/Peter/Elizabeth
Rating: PG-13 for now.
Wordcount: 1,892 for this part.
A/N: post-Free Fall, and therefore contains serious spoilers to the last scene. My first fic in this fandom, so mostly trying out the new playground. It's not my current working theory for the final scene, but it's a theory.

I don't know. I hate this year, I want it to be over now. >.>

Band is going OK, so far. I'm not quite sure what to make of the new director yet. I don't know why either; he seems perfectly nice and competent. I guess I'm just annoyed at having to get used to yet ANOTHER different director. I need to lobby to have us play Bolero before I leave; we were supposed to play it last summer, but didn't get around to it. It has a nice flute solo at the beginning. But as it's the year they're going to Germany and we're going to be playing a lot of German music next year, I dunno; all I can do is try. We are only playing the Trepak movement of Nutcracker, so there goes Chinese Dance too. Also, we have a new president, which worries me a bit considering who it is. Next Monday is our Christmas concert; the programs are already printed, I think Michelle did them; by my name it always said 'musician/artist'. I could've sworn it still did last week when it got passed around to make corrections as well, but now it just says artist. o.O It's too late to change it now. Someone's idea of a joke to cross out musician?? Well screw you guys!! Urge to kill, rising.... >:(

Yeah, I just don't know anymore. The whole thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I still show up because I love to play; I don't know what I would do with myself if I didn't go. I'm not going to the winter social either. Why bother? We all get together at [info]marvelouspatric's house anyway for New Years'.

Anyway. We are doing Bizet's "Farandole" both in band and Bethlehem Chamber Orchestra. They're in two different keys too. That will be interesting.

I have a lot of practicing to catch up on this weekend, if I don't have any card writing work to do. I'm still making progress though.

I think that was all I had today. Yeah, I think a change of scenery is definitely in order.

30 Day Meme - Day 01

  • Dec. 8th, 2009 at 9:28 AM
Okay, I am going to try and conquer this epic meme that I’ve seen floating around.

30 Day Meme

Day 01 – Your Favorite Song

Let’s face it…I have very random music taste but if I am going to honestly answer this question and only pick one song I need to ask myself, what is one song that at the first opening note you stop what you are doing and prepare for dancing and singing?

Dexy’s Midnight Runners – Come on Eileen
I love the tune, I love the lyrics, I love not actually knowing the real lyrics because everyone always messes them up, I love twirling and bopping. This is also the anthem for the Monday Night Happy Hour Crew when we are at the Gay 90's Drag Show. Vegan Joe always requests it and it is OUR moment to own the dance floor!

But, the rest of my fave songs don’t go home empty handed! They get the runner-up prize of Honorable Mention!
Last Dance for Mary Jane – Tom Petty
Dr. Feelgood – Motley Crue
Step by Step – New Kids on the Block
Just Dance – Lady Gaga
Barbasol – David Cook
Sundown – Gordon Lightfoot
Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves – Cher

Ugh - Morning Sickness Sucks

  • Dec. 8th, 2009 at 5:29 AM
I feel sick to my stomach this morning. Last night, I was ill. Let's just
say that it's going to be a while before I have my Seabreeze Tuna Salad
again. This morning, even the lemon candies aren't helping too much.

I'm trying to hang on for our meeting at noon at the very least. Dunno if
I'll last much longer than that though....Not feeling like this anyway.

I wish that this feeling would just go away so that I could work and not
have to spend my days worrying about nausea.

I'm resurfacing from my self-imposed purgatory of final essays to pose a question.

Has anyone read Wiseguys by Nicholas Pileggi? I've been thinking of picking it up over the holidays ever since we watched Goodfellas in class. But wasn't sure if I should attempt using the freakishly small amount of vacation time I have on that, or something else. Come on. Anyone? Bueller?

YOU GUYS my last entry had cool links and interesting things. I am disappointed by the lack of commentage. You KNOW the whole point of an online journal is attention whoring! And the majority of you need to write in your own more often, also! I need shit to look at when I am bored (like right now).

Anyway, I said I thought Saturday would be a good day and I was so right.

I love snow when it isn't windy and horrible outside, and after Evan and Emily Schreck got off work, we went to Emily's apartment to drink hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps. YUHM. On the way there my car ran out of gasoline and we all willed it forward down a hill toward the Hess by Lowe's Foods. It was a glorious adventure. I need to get my gas gauge fixed so I know how much I have in my tank ever.

After that Evan and I went to my mom's house, because it is a beautiful place to be when it is snowing. We went on a walk up on one of the trails by her house, accompanied by a really excited Addie, who doesn't really get out much these days. It was chilly and quiet and peaceful and I got some good pictures, which will be on Facebook probably later today or tomorrow.

Then I went to my dad's house to celebrate a late Thanksgiving, as he was in Florida taking care of my Granddad when we were supposed to have our celebration. He and Jenny had decided to change it to Festivus, instead, and the evening was ridiculous and amazing. Hunter and I went on a walk to find Goats (There are random wild goats loose on his mountain!). And then we all had B for D, donned Mardi Gras beads and feather boas and weird hats and drank mimosas and bloody marys and thumb war'd and aired grievances and did our yearly update of our Favorite Things list (which we've been doing since '03. Some of the answers are hilarious). I think Festivus will be a lovely new tradition.

Yesterday I mostly edited pictures and watched Evan write a paper, but in the evening I played Clue with Evan, John, Will, Vann and Matt, drank black russian floats (HOMG) and then watched the rifftrax version of X men. Good weekend.

This morning my car got towed again and after I languished on the couch for a while, I got up and dealt with it. I am just going to have to get over the cold and drive the Vespa anyway.

It's reading day eve for the younguns. I hope to be the old creeper at some gathering tonight.

These are cupcakes!
